The course contents

  • The Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Introduction to the machine
  • Pre - shift operational checks including battery maintenance
  • Safe operation of controls
  • Anticipating site conditions
  • Overhead obstructions
  • Correct use of safety harnesses

Please note that the above applies to scissor lifts. Additional subjects have to be covered when dealing with "Cherry picker" type platforms as follows:

  • Safe engine starting and stopping procedures
  • Steering the machine from both directions
  • The addition effects of working at heights including wind factors etc.

Candidates are awarded a certificate of training which is recognised by the Factory Inspectorate as proof that formal training has been carried out
